Escapade Music Festival

Going to try to keep being more consistent with these posts.  It's been awhile since I've done a solid blog post rather than just an In Focus.  This time around I'm going to talk about my time shooting Escapade Music Festival.

First off I want to shout out EDMVibes for bringing myself and Sydney Carrow - Nymphira Photography, along for this journey.

This was the first time myself and Sydney have ever done anything on this scale.  In pre-sales alone, the festival sold 22,000 tickets.  This event being coupled with Canada Day was sure to bring a big crowd.  Some of the biggest headliners around were in attendance such as, Tiesto,  Benny Benassi, Steve Angello, Krewella, and Figure. The festival went on for three days, the first 2 days were at the RA Center, which featured a Main Stage with two VIP viewing areas.  Also, there was a Bass/Tech Stage as well as a mini Village with food and clothing vendors.  On, the third day the event was moved to downtown Ottawa, right in the heart of the cities Canada Day festivities.  The streets were packed with over 100,000 people all coming together to form a sea of Red and White.

It was my first time seeing a lot of these artists, but for many I have seen before.  It was my first time shooting all of these artists, a lot I was really excited for.  Each artist was able to really work the crowd, I don't think I've ever seen a more hyped group of people. Was very fortunate enough to meet a handful of DJs whose music I've loved for a long time.  It was good to see that even though they are famous they are still humble and willing to talk to the people that come up to them.

From what I noticed all the other photograpehrs and videographers took the first two days on a more serious note.  Not to say they didn't do their jobs on the third day.  But, it just felt everyone took it as more of a rest day.  The first two days had a set media tent & area for everyone.  The third day had nothing, so when we noticed the small group stating to block off an area we decided to join them.  Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, was very nice to just hang out with everyone on that last day.

Overall this was a fun and great experience.  All the new people we met were awesome, hopefully get to see and work with them in the future!
